Our Hope

Our Hope in Christ Jesus

On top of many Churches, including East Side Baptist Church, is a steeple. Steeples often rise above surrounding buildings, houses, and trees. They point to the heavens, and specifically to the LORD God, the Creator of the heavens and earth.

The Promise of Salvation: Why? 'God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life' (John 3:16, NASB). Jesus lived a sinless life, but was rejected by men and crucified. But, God sent His Son into the world for this very purpose. Jesus willingly died to save sinners from judgment and damnation. God then raised Him from the dead on the third day to prove He is able to save people from sin. Jesus appeared unto many people over forty days; after which, He ascended in Heaven.

God's Love and Salvation: Paul wrote, 'God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us' (Romans 5:8, NASB). 'For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord' (Romans 6:23, NASB). And, '...if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved….for ‘Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved’' (Romans 10:9,13, NASB).
